Virginia Student Pilot Podcast #4



For today's flight lesson I got a new instructor. Well, not really new - Bob was originally to be my CFI, but so many things intervened I wound up starting with another person at the school. It's a case study in different instructor styles and very useful in that each individual CFI brings their own points of emphasis and method of teaching. I'm guessing this is why stage checks are done by someone other than your primary instructor. Although I wound up getting a tiny bit queasey, it was a lesson chock full of information, so take a listen....

Virginia Student Pilot Podcast #3



On the pre-flight briefing for this third lesson I learned I'd be getting an introduction to the "foggles". Since my first ride in a friend's plane, while she let me have the yoke I'd tend to try to fly by the instruments - guess my instructor noticed some of that and felt it would be OK to give it a go. But as usual the lesson-plan was a full one and would include slow flight, some landing practice with power on and off, and even an intro to forward slips. A full itinerary!
